

Michael Ray Baker, 60, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017. Born July 27, 1956 in Marion, Ind., he was a son of Bertha (Saylor) Baker and the late Hobert Baker. Michael held various welding jobs over the last 23 years; beginning at Float Boat and having most recently worked with Harris Kayot. He had been a member of the American Legion Post 499 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Columbia City. Michael was a mentor, teaching and helping many friends and other associates in the welding/fabricating industry. An avid Cincinnati Bengals and White Sox fan, Michael also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson, and playing pool for several leagues. He was baptized on Nov. 30, 2016 and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his heart. He is also survived by his children, Brandie Baker, Tammy Barrett, and Michael Baker; seven grandchildren, Jonas Urban, Matthew Dunn, J.J. Barrett, Desiree Coy, Raelynn Baker, Spencer Ridenour, and Taji Baker; one great-granddaughter, Ivy Newsome; and siblings, Roscoe (April) Baker and Audry (Lee) Toussaint; all of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Baker; and sister, Jackie Baker-Phelps. Funeral Service will be 1pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at CM Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Brandie Baker for Michael’s headstone.
