Miriam D. Goodhew

Miriam D. Goodhew, 83, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Coventry Meadows. Born in Grand Haven, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Raulin E. and Dorothy (Brown) Gillette. After graduating from High School, Miriam worked as a daycare teacher, church secretary, and assisted her husband with managing their car dealership, Oxford Autos. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and was a bingo pro! Miriam was adored by everyone that knew her, especially the community members and staff at Coventry Meadows. She was the president of the resident council at Coventry Meadows and looked forward to working in its community garden each season. Miriam often could be found sunbathing and maintaining her tan; she truly loved being in the warmth of the sun. She is survived by her three children, Judy (Greg) Vickery of Fort Wayne, Indiana, James (Kathy) Goodhew of Montrose, Michigan, and Janice (John) Rockwell of Valley Center, Kansas; four grandchildren, Andrew (Amanda) Hull, Aaron (Rachel) Hull, Melanie Goodhew, and Tyler Goodhew; eight great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Marie (Tom) Mounsey of Montpelier, Indiana; sister, Alice (Herb) Zuercher of Bradenton, Florida; sister, Rauline (Jack) Morris of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and a brother, Dave (Judy) Gillette of Fort Wayne, Indiana. In addition to her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Goodhew; and a sister, Delores (Neil) Shultz. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 1:00 PM, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809, with public visitation one hour prior. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804, immediately following funeral services.
