

Morris E. “Butch” Waltemath, 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Lutheran Life Villages S. Anthony, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born on October 30, 1939, to the late Morris H. and Margaret Waltemath, he was native and lifetime resident of Fort Wayne.
Butch graduated from Central Catholic HS in 1957. He joined the Fort Wayne Fire Department in 1963 and retired in 1988 after serving his community for 25 years. He was a member of the 20 year club with the Fort Wayne Firefighters and the local 124 Firefighters Union. Butch was also a volunteer at the Senior Games and the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo for over 15 years. He was an avid golfer, loved music and attending concerts.
Butch is survived by his children, Ross (Shelly) Waltemath of Kokomo, IN, Connie (Steve) Williams of Wakarusa, IN, Michelle (Mark) West of Centerville, OH; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Belot. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by this children’s mother, Barbara Ann Waltemath in 2019; siblings, Richard Waltemath, and Mary Catherine Gemmil and brother in law Earl Gemmil; half-siblings, Charles Waltemath, Selma; sister-in-law, Sylvia Waltemath; and brother-in-law, James Belot,
A funeral service to honor Butch's life and legacy will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 28, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. A visitation will also take place on Thursday, October 27, 2022, form 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
