Nancy J. Coolman

After battling leukemia for 12 years, Nancy Coolman died in her home on August 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born Nancy Jean Ostroot in Gary, IN on April 10, 1943, to Boyd (d. 2005) and Velma (d. 1998), she grew up in Portage, IN, graduated from Portage High School (1961) and from Purdue University (1965). On August 25, 1963, she married Roy Arland Coolman, with whom she celebrated their 55th anniversary the day before she died. A faithful Christian, loving wife, and devoted mother, Nancy lived in Fort Wayne with her husband for over half a century. She was involved in the lives of countless people, inside and outside her home. Active in several Christian communities, a foster mom, public speaker, counselor, mentor, piano teacher, homemaker, grandmother, and friend, she touched many and inspired more by her vibrant faith, radiant joy, constant attentiveness, and nurturing presence. She brought love into the life of every person she met, and every one of them is richer for having known her. Survived by husband: Roy; sisters: Karen Fritz, Ruthann Chaddock, and Anita (Jay) Stevens; children: Boyd (Holly) Coolman, Bradley (Shindok) Coolman, Ann (John) Hughes, Barak (Valerie) Coolman; and grandchildren: Audrey, Frances, Anna, Emily, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Arland, Christopher, Gloria, James, Jenisis, Eli, Kyla, Caleb, Isaiah, Nancy, Peter, and Caroline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30pm on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Visitation will be held from 10:30am to 11:30am at the Life Center prior to Mass. From 11:30am to 12pm Eulogies will be shared at the Life Center. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 4-8pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Chapel, 1320 E. Dupont Road Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
