Nécrologie de Patricia Ann Spencer
Patricia Ann Spencer, 71, passed away June 6, 2023, at her home in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born December 13, 1951, in Fort Wayne, IN, the daughter of the late Thomas and Rosella Schaab. Patricia graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School in 1970. She retired in 2012 as a Merchandise Manager with JCPenney Corporation after 30 years of service. Patricia was a current member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Fort Wayne. Pat married the love of her life and best friend, Tom, in November 1971. They fell in love over french fries at Azar’s at Glenbrook Mall. Pat and Tom raised their daughters at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, where they volunteered in many ways. One of the fondest memories would be the time they spent working with the high school youth group also known as, “Genesis.” One of the highlights with the youth group was a trip to the ELCA National Youth Convention in San Antonio, Texas. Pat’s pride and joy were her “Mimi’s 5.” She enjoyed her famous Mimi Days with each one and loved planning their birthday mystery trips each year. She loved traveling to watch her grandsons in baseball, hockey, basketball, cross country, theatre, jazz band, and lacrosse. Pat loved watching her only granddaughter, Nora Rose, at dance recitals and competitions. Pat and Tom enjoyed many adventures together traveling across the country in their RV with their best friends and neighbors, Sam and Joan Lipscomb. They also enjoyed the Indiana State Park Campgrounds and camped at the state parks annually with their family and friends. Pat enjoyed time with a group of friends they called “The South Side Six,” which comprised of six couples who met through their children who attended South Side High School. They have wonderful memories of parties, dinners, and travels with this lively group of friends. One very special moment with “The South Side Six,” was when they renewed their wedding vows together for all of their 40th Wedding Anniversaries. Pat had many fond memories of growing up with her five siblings and many cousins. They enjoyed ice skating in their front yard, lake time, camping trips, bike riding, and later in life traveling with their spouses. She was blessed with wonderful nieces and nephews and enjoyed the fact that her daughters could also make childhood memories with their cousins as she did. One of Pat’s favorite past times was scrapbooking with her daughters and friends. They had annual scrapbooking weekends to Brown County and Shipshewana. Pat created beautiful scrapbooks of all of her travels for her family to enjoy. Many of her scrapbooks documented the many trips to Walt Disney World, where Pat and Tom enjoyed taking their family to experience “The Most Magical Place on Earth”. Walt Disney World was definitely a happy place for Pat with her family. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Spencer of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Kerri (Derek) Combs and Erika Spencer-Corson both of Fort Wayne, IN; siblings, Thomas (Rebecca) Schaab Jr., of Auburn, IN; Robert (Joann) Schaab, Diane (Tony) Martin, Donald (Joyce) Schaab, Kenneth (Shari) Schaab all of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Isaac Combs, Matthew Corson, Keegan Combs, Braedon Corson and Nora Combs. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 15, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Evangelical, Lutheran Church 729 W. Washington Blvd. Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior.
