Paul William Doenges

Paul W. Doenges, 94, passed on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Paul was born in Fort Wayne on September 24, 1931. He was the son of the late William F. Doenges and Esther (Brudi) Doenges. Paul graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in 1949. He worked 17 years for International Harvester (now Navistar), and 23 years for Fort Wayne National Bank (now PNC). Paul volunteered for many tasks at his local church. These included Bible Study Leader, Chairman of the Congregation, Chairman of the Elders, Treasurer, and School Board Chairman. For twelve years he was the treasurer of the Indiana District of Lutheran Church/Missouri Synod. Paul also served the Indiana District of the Lutheran Hour Ministries as Vice President, and President, also the Fort Wayne Zone of Lutheran Hours Ministries as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Paul was a gardener, growing all kinds of vegetables and fruits for his family, friends, and neighbors. Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca (Bill) Coleman, Christine (Joe) Romans, and Sharon (Sean) O'Shaughessey; son, Daniel Doenges; and sister, Lois Weber Henschen; grandchildren, Matthew (Lori) Small, Hilary (Angel) Dominguez - Doenges, Hannah (Carl) Sandstrom, Zachary Doenges, Mitchell (Brianna) Doenges, Rook (Hans) Fairchild, Indira Pablo, Michael (Ashley) Romans, Elizabeth (Adam) Pasandideh, Ryan O'Shaughnessey, Erin (Casey Murdock) O'Shaughnessey, and Connor (Miranda) O'Shaughnessey; and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Doenges in 2025; brother, William Doenges; and sister, Ruth Doenges. Visitation will be held on January 23, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Lutheran Life Villages - The Village at Anthony Boulevard, located at 6701 South Anthony Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46816 with funeral services to follow at the same location, beginning at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Concordia Gardens Cemetery, 5365 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46815. Donations in memory of Paul may be made to Concordia High School, Worship Anew, or Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
