

Peggy A. Williams,77, died Friday July 17, 2015 at Hospice Home after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Ft. Wayne, Oct. 31, 1937 to George and Sarah Jayne Burnworth, and graduated from Wolf Lake Ind. High School in 1955, Parkview Methodist School of Nursing as an RN in 1958, BS degree from College of St. Francis, Joliet, Ill. in 1982 and MS degree in Counciling from St. Francis College, Ft. Wayne, Ind. in 1984, and completed Mediation Training through the Allen County Superior Court in 1992. Her professional licensures included Registered Nurse, Nationally Certified Counselor, ICLEF Certified Mediator and a licensed Foster Parent by the State of Indiana, parenting 16 foster children. Her employment experience included that of a hospital nurse, office and industrial nurse, nurse for Indiana State Hospital for the mentally ill, and from 1988 to 1999 for Passages Inc. of Columbia City, Ind. as an RN, counselor, educator and program director.
She was a tennis and bowling trophy winner, and her volunteer activities included the Old Fort Wayne as an interpreter, Science Central, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and Mentor Home Board of Directors, both for the Allen Superior Court, Hospice of Fort Wayne as a counselor/RN, First Presbyterian Church as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, pre-school board member and various committees, a Master Gardener and ESCL Literacy Coach.
She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by John Williams Jr., her husband of 56 years, five children: John (Lisa) Williams III, Matthew (Graciela) Williams, Andrea Williams all of Ft. Wayne, Mark (Annette) Williams of Underwood, Ind. and Melinda (Dean) Thompson of DeForest, Wis. and seven grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Ft. Wayne, (Chapel) Monday July 27, 2015 at noon with visitation beginning at 10:00AM in the chapel.
