Phyllis Joan Bilger, 92, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Grey Stone Health and Rehabilitation Center of Fort Wayne, IN. She was born August 22, 1930, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Vaughn B. and Wilma I. Sloniker.
She graduated from North Side High School and earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Purdue University, Fort Wayne. She taught nursing in Fort Wayne for several years. Phyllis was also a Wedding Coordinator, taught Sunday school and was a member of Huntertown United Methodist Church; she was a dedicated volunteer with the prison ministry program. Phyllis was an avid reader, enjoyed singing in the church choir and was also the former Choir Director.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Suzette Mitchell of Fort Wayne, IN; Timm (Diane) Bilger of Churubusco, IN; Ned (Cheryl) Bilger of Fort Wayne, IN; Luke (Karen) Bilger of Churubusco, IN; Marie Carlisle of Fort Wayne, IN; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson; and sister Marjorie Miller of Albion, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clem George Bilger.
Funeral service will be 1:30 pm Saturday, April 1, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation two hours prior.
