

Phyllis Elaine “Elaine” (Bettner) Coffin, 83, of Ft. Wayne, IN, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2024, with family present. Elaine was a graduate of Mooreland High School, Mooreland, IN, and married Kermit Coffin in 1958, residing there. They moved to Elwood, IN, in 1969. Elaine was an excellent cook and a donut fan, cooking donuts professionally for Jacks Highway Bakery and later Village Pantry in Elwood where she also spent years as a bank teller. She also spent several years as a shipping clerk for Red Gold Tomatoes in Orestes, IN. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents William (Bill) Bettner and Rema (Hay) Bettner, and a daughter Debra Sue. She is survived by a sister Kandie (Dan) Miller, Anderson, IN, three children, Danny (Kathy) Coffin, Ft. Wayne, Diana Duncan, Ft. Wayne, Deidra (Tim) Duncan, Celebration FL, two grandchildren, Allison (Devan) Sadler, Indianapolis, IN, Megan (Devin) Bultemeier, Ft. Wayne, and three great grandchildren. At Elaine’s request, no services will be held. Charitable donations can be placed with Heart of Jesus Home for the Dying at P.O Box 242, Leo, IN, 46765.
