Phyllis E. Hall, age 102, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025. She was born into a military family on November 7, 1922, in Fort Wayne to the late William Lafayette and Nellie (née Squires) Smith and graduated from North Side High School, Class of '40. Phyllis would begin her career supporting the war effort with General Electric for nearly a decade and would retire from ITT in 1984.
A self-proclaimed feminist, Phyllis was voted in every election since the age of 18. She was a proud and dedicated member of VFW Jim Eby Post 857, joining the Auxiliary at the age of 16. During her 83 years of continuous service, she served as Grand President in 1976, spent two terms as President, was honored to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and loved marching whether at home or with the colors, especially on patriotic holidays.
Her dedication and determination carried into her hobbies. If something caught her interest, she pursued it including basket weaving, stained-glass, gardening or hair dressing.
Phyllis is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Sharon (Valerie Wallis) Andersen; grandchildren, Jim (Erin) Andersen, Steven Tretter, Joe (Sara) Tretter, Robert Wallis, Michael Wallis, Terry Brantley, Ramiro Valero, Janet Morris, and Terri Harliss; fourteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren with three on the way. She was preceded in death by her late husband, James E. Hall; daughter, Rebecca Sue Hall; and grandchildren, Benjamin Tretter and Shawn Nellae Palmer.
Celebration of Life is 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Gazebo, 731 Walnut St., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Ice Cream Social and wine in the front, beer in the back.
