Renaye Lorraine Smith

She was born on January 1, 1949, in Fort Wayne, to the late Ferrell Denver Wright and Vallette June Wright (née Klopfenstein). Renaye graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1965 and was a devoted member of the Chapel in Fort Wayne.

Renaye dedicated her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She served the Fort Wayne community through her work at Lutheran Hospital, Dr. Dausher's office at Anthony Medical Center, and later retired from Covington Manor Health Care. Her compassion and commitment to her patients left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

From a very young age, Renaye was a strong and determined woman. She raised her sons while putting herself through nursing school, often bringing them along with her to classes and even daily outings. Her strength, resilience and devotion to her family were evident in everything she did.

Renaye found joy in spending time with her friends, especially enjoying visits to local wineries. While her love for her husband, children, family and friends was immense, her affection for her beloved dogs — especially Lulu - was unmatched.

She is survived by her loving husband, Harold E. Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her sons, Richard (Traci) Roehling of Columbia City, Indiana, and Ryan (Lydia) Roehling of Norco, California; her cherished grandchildren, Bryce Roehling, Savannah Roehling, Shaina (Ethan) Marshh, and Garrett Roehling; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Saylor and Parker Marsh.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Darwin Wright.

Friends and family are invited to gather for the committal and burial at 11:00 am on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804. Following the committal, friends are also welcome to join the family at AJ's Bar and Grill for a celebration of Renaye's life.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Fort Wayne Humane Society in Renaye's honor.
