Richard C. "Dick" Evans, age 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. He was born January 17, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Dorothy (Cook) Evans and P. Wilson Evans. Dick is also preceded in death by his son, Ryan Evans; and siblings, Ann Filetti, Dorothy Woodruff, and Robert Evans.
Dick founded Evans Motors in 1955 in Fort Wayne, as a VW dealer, and since 1975, Toyota. He also had a passion for astronomy. Dick served as an advisor at McDonald Observatory in Texas, was a member of Fort Wayne Astronomical Society, and taught astronomy for many years in schools in the NE Indiana area. He was also an active member and volunteer at Emmaus Lutheran Church & School. His involvement with the school and church was a passion for him and his wife, Marti, including producing school plays and musicals, and improving the facilities.
Dick is survived by his wife, Marti (Zander) Evans; son, Richard "Rick" Evans; and 5 grandchildren, Sydney, Bailey, Lauren, Tanner, and Brandon.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804. His Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00 am, at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 8626 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
