

RICHARD F. LEWIS, went to Heaven on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012. Born Feb. 1, 1922, in LaGrange, he was the son of the late John E. Lewis and Lou Ann Blair. He stormed the beaches of Omaha in the invasion of Normandy and hard wired command posts throughout the war. He was one of the first cameramen for WANE TV. He worked as a dispatcher for the Fort Wayne Fire Department, and Allen County Sheriff's Department. He retired from the Sheriff's Department on April 23, 1987. He received the Johnny Appleseed award for his volunteer work at the V.A. He loved family, Euchre, dancing, a good joke, and a lot of laughs. "He was a good husband, and father." He married Norma J. Wells on Jan. 12, 1950; together they had five boys. Surviving are sons; Gregory M., Richard J. (Nancy), David E. (Kathy), and Spencer S. (Julie); 11 nephews and nieces; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kevin M. Lewis on Feb. 18, 1979; seven brothers; and one sister. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1636 St. Mary's Ave., with visitation two hours prior. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
