Robert F. “Shorty” Geiger, 72, of Boston, Massachusetts passed away Monday, November 20, in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born Sep. 18, 1951 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late James (Margaret) Geiger II.

Robert proudly served the United States in the Navy, continuing his veteran service as a Commander for the AmVets Post 33 and Color Guard. Robert loved his country and helping fellow veterans. By doing so, he was a former committee member for the Allen County Council of The Veteran’s Day Parade, spokesman for the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, and worked for the Wayne Township Trustee Office assisting veterans with their financial needs. When Robert wasn’t serving his community, he worked as an electrician.

As a proud patriot, Robert loved observing eagles and collecting them, as well as learning about Native American culture and history. Robert was a lover of music, often singing to Elvis Presley and roller skating to any kind of genre.

Robert is survived by daughters, Lisa (Dan) Miller and Roxana (John) Becher; sons, Shawn (Delilah) Geiger and Dillon Geiger; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as many others he considered his children, David (Andrea) Beard and Deanna (Steve) Hockema. He is also survived by his siblings, James (Mary) Geiger, Patricia (Rich) Bleich, Michael Geiger, Joanne (Neal) McElroy, Therese Geiger, Evelyn Meredith, and John Geiger. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ellis; brother, Joseph Geiger; and son, Robert Geiger Jr.
