Roberta A. Folland, 87, of Fort Wayne, Indiana & Defiance, Ohio, passed away on February 21, 2024 at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne. She was born on September 22, 1936 to Elmer and Olive (Barnes) Orr in rural Sears, Michigan. She married Jackson Folland on April 9, 1960 in Lansing, Michigan. She graduated from Woodland High School (Woodland, Michigan) in 1955 where she was active in cheerleading and many school activities. After graduating, she worked in the trust department at banks in Lansing and Indianapolis, Indianapolis. After the birth of her 1st child, she became a full-time homemaker, raising her three children. In addition, she was a childcare provider & nanny for many families in Fort Wayne and Defiance. She was a huge fan of Michigan State University sports and was always devoted to her family. Her smile & caring nature will be missed by many. She was an active member of Simpson United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne and then St. Paul United Methodist Church in Defiance. She was active in the choir, United Methodist Women (UMW), and missions. She was a talented vocalist with a passion for music. She performed numerous solos and duets, in addition to participating in church choirs throughout her lifetime. She was also involved in several music performance groups in Fort Wayne, most notably-Southmoor Singers & Sigma ETA. She is survived by her three children, Christopher (Jill) Folland of Clear Lake, Indiana, Jim (Pam) Folland of LaOtto, Indiana, and Katherine Folland of Defiance; her sister, Annabelle (David) Teeter of Racine, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Zach Folland, Emily (Patrick) Doss, Kaileigh (Alex) Derksen, Julia Folland, and great granddaughter, Ruby Doss; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents and stepfather, Floyd Mahler, she was preceded in death by her husband on February 17, 2019, and six siblings, Dorothy Chandler, Harriett Prothro, Betty Zimmerman, Gertrude Orr, Joyce Rosser, and Edmund Orr. Suggested memorials are to St. Paul United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Defiance or Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 10:00 am.
