Ronetta Kay Leverton

Ronetta “Kay” Leverton, 66, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on July 9, 2024 at home after having spent the day with loved ones. She was born on January 18, 1958, to Ronald Waldron and Barbara Newland in Kokomo, Indiana.

As a proud nurse of nearly 30 years, Kay found great pride in taking care of elderly individuals and providing them quality of life in their later years. She taught new nursing professionals how to be the best versions of themselves, and there are many medical professionals out there who benefitted from her wisdom and kindness. Kay was one of the kindness individuals you’d ever meet, but had a wit that was unmatched and could put you in your place with one look.

Kay spent her free time riding motorcycles, taking road trips, enjoying sweets, sitting at the beach, watching every type of romance series out there, going to the zoo or Disney, and playing games on her phone. She loved all of her fur babies and grand babies and spoiled them at every opportunity she could, especially with string cheese.

Most importantly, Kay loved her family. They were her rock, especially her children. An incredibly proud mother, you could find her road tripping with Alicia, going to Disney with James and Ryan, and being a listening ear and voice for Kahla. As a daughter, she had a remarked bond with her mother; you could find them together watching tv or talking on the phone. She truly had unique connections with each of her family and friends. She even had many bonus children over the years and would take them under her wing. She was a mom to many.

She is survived by her children, Alicia Velez, James Velez (Ryan Walsh), and Kahla Snyder; mother, Barbara (David) Newland; brothers, Kirk Waldron and Craig Woods; and many friends and family members.

A visitation will be on July 14, 2024, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home- Lakeside, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. A funeral will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior.
