Roosevelt Stalling Jr.

Roosevelt Stalling Jr. was born on October 9, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to his dearly departed parents, Roosevelt Stalling Sr. and Matriarch Willie Mae Stalling. He was the youngest child of six siblings. Roosevelt loved his mother and his children more than anything in life.

Roosevelt was a known musical talent, a professional drummer and singer who played in several bands throughout his career and could skillfully articulate the musical style and lyrics of all musical genres. His musical intensity from Funk - Jazz was well received by many.

Roosevelt was an electrician and could detail a car to where it looked pristine and brand new. Roosevelt loved to build racetracks and model cars. He would build cities and establish communities on the gaming systems long before it became popular. He loved art and would share and critic with his youngest daughter and 4th eldest granddaughter.

A man who loved life and lived on his own terms, he was the best at listening to those who sought him out. He would impart straight forward knowledge and wisdom to those who willingly listened.

Roosevelt Stalling Jr. affectionately known as Junnie Man, departed his earthly vessel on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Roosevelt leaves to cherish his life five children, Lynn Dowdell (Martin), Ernest Dowdell, Tamina Shock (Dave), Dante Hayes, Markiss Dowdell – born on his birthday (Carolyn);15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Stalling and Bea Mynatt.

He was also preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Bre'Asia Christine Dowdell; his sister, the late Pastor Beverly Stalling; and two brothers, the late David Stalling and Michael Stalling.

Roosevelt was a funny, kind and good man. He is loved, and his memories will always remain with those that knew him.

A visitation for Roosevelt will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm.
