Ruth Kathrin Cox

Ruth Kathrin Cox, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. She was born on January 6, 1943 to the late Cecil Shearer and Ruth (Thomas) Neate. Ruth’s greatest accomplishment was raising six children with loving care and sacrifice, even the children that she babysat for knew that she loved them. In addition, she was a postal carrier and semi- truck driver. Ruth loved flowers, gardening, cooking, and reading. Her biggest passions were for children and animals. She will be remembered mostly by the love, kindness, and support that she gave others. Ruth is survived by her children, Melvin Lee Wilcher, Donna (Andy) Hackman, Rickey (Bonnie) Wilcher, and Sandra Lusk; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joyce (Wayne) Walker, Duke (Tammy) Shearer, Nancy (Chris Hill) Moore, and Paul Pritchard. She is preceded in passing by her husband, Charles Burton Cox; sons, Michael Wilcher and Michael Cox; grandsons, Adam Wilcher and Mikey Fornell; granddaughter, Kristi Wilcher; and great-grandsons, Jacob Zick, David Rickey James Wilcher; and sister, Virginia Wilson. A visitation for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835. A funeral service will follow visitation beginning at 12:00pm. Memorial contributions in Ruth's memory can be made to the Humane Fort Wayne.
