Born August 3, 1935, in Logansport, Indiana, she was the youngest child born to Alexander and Genetta Butch. Sandra graduated from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and married Stanley Bickhart on September 1, 1955. Together, they raised two children while she worked as a registered nurse.
A devoted member of her church, Sandra was active in Bible Study, and volunteered with the food pantry. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, tennis, walking and exercise in general. Sandra kept busy traveling around the USA to visit and spend time with family. This allowed her to utilize her vast and ever-expanding Vera Bradley collection. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren completing puzzles, playing games, and holiday decorating.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband Stanley and grandson Justin Bickhart. She is survived by her children Greg (Karen) and Phil (Melanie), sister Jean Meyers and grandchildren Sarah (Nick) Roberts, Joshua Bickhart and Nic (Adele) Kirkland, and great-grandchildren, Mason and Kinsley Roberts and Ziva, Cian and Lydia Kirkland.
A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with visitation two hours prior. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, IN or St Paul Lutheran Church, Peachtree City GA.
