Sharon Marie Piper, better known as Auntie, passed away July 31st, 2024. Sharon was born on October 9th, 1951, in Clinton, Kentucky, the youngest of two to James Robert and Ida LeAnna Piper; who later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana to raise them both. She attended Central High School, before finding love with her Life Partner, Wallace Martin and remaining until his untimely passing.
Many knew her to be a staple in the community, cooking for the entire building of East Central Towers for Thanksgiving, making gift baskets for those in need and Christmas cards to all the people that didn’t have family left. She was a member of The Silver Sneaker Activity Program at the YMCA, and just overall enjoyed the city of Fort Wayne.
She has always been a role model to many, but she set the bar high when she went on to receive her GED at the age of 52 to help encourage us to finish school.
She had a true love for books, gaining an in-depth perspective about life. She had a way of turning every conversation into an opportunity for growth and learning, and her wisdom has left an indelible mark on our hearts and minds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Robert and Ida LeAnna Piper; life partner, Wallace Martin; and nephew, Bobby Waddell Piper-Bishop.
She leaves behind one sister, Martha Piper of Fort Wayne; one niece, Teresa Mason of Fort Wayne; four great nieces, Bobbie Piper and Waddisha Washington both of Fort Wayne, and Precious {Christian} Hill of Austin, TX; and Teresa O. Piper of Fort Wayne; a nephew, Marc Washington II of Fort Wayne; 16 great-grand nieces and nephews; and best friend, Connie Jordan of Fort Wayne.
A Funeral Service for Sharon will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue (46805) with a viewing one hour prior to services.
Fond memories of Sharon may be shared at www.mccombandsons.com for the family.
