Sharon R (Strickler) Vian, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away on January 7, 2019, at the Towne House of Fort Wayne. Born on March 9, 1934, in Decatur, she was a daughter of the late Robert G and Ruth P (Hammond) Strickler. As a young woman Shari was employed at International Harvester, later as a nursery school teacher, and then as an administrative assistant at Schnelker Engineering. Her family and raising her children were also extremely important to her. Shari was a social people person, who loved to laugh, have fun, and was a very stylish lady.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Benjamin Riley Vian; daughters, Tami (Kim) Pedler, Trina Vian, and Mindy (Kevin) Wilhelm; siblings, Robert (Mary) Strickler, Carolyn (Joe) Ditto, Roger (Carol) Strickler, and Vicki Strickler; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by her son Brent Craig Vian, in 2014.
Funeral service will be 1:30pm, Thursday, January 10, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling from 10:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00-1:30pm, prior to service. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
