Sheldon Light

Robert Sheldon Light, 83 years old, peacefully passed away, Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Story Point West, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sheldon was born on December 16, 1941 to Robert and La ’Vere Light in Decatur, Indiana. He married Elaine Kay Cochran on June 25, 1961.

Sheldon graduated from Purdue University in 1970 with his Mechanical Engineering degree, he went on to complete his Master of Science in Business Administration from Indiana University in 1974. Sheldon retired from Central Soya after a long successful career and became co-owner of Master Group Engineering Consulting Firm before starting his own consulting firm, HPD. He enjoyed cheering on Purdue sports, but his greatest hobby was everything and anything trains.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine Kay of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his daughters, Juliann (Michael) Laudick of Hicksville Ohio and Kendra (Patrick) Dillon of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren, Brandon (Jesse) Fawbush of Washington D.C. and Morgan (Pete) Brittain of Springfield, Virginia; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Looker-Fawbush; and his brothers, David, Darvon, Dennis and Tim Light. Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 20, 2025 at the funeral home. Sheldon will be laid to rest at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in rural Decatur, Indiana following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers preferred memorials may be made to Eleos Hospice Care or American Parkinson Disease Association.
