STEPHEN M. KELKER, 75, passed peacefully Friday, Oct. 8, 2021. Born Feb. 21, 1946 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mildred (Gardiner) Kelker. Stephen was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, attended Indiana University and was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran. He was a journeyman electrician with the Local IBEW before transitioning to his career in insurance sales with Prudential Insurance Company and as a registered representative with Prudential-Bache Securities, Grabill Bank and APP Financial. Stephen was an avid reader, loved working in his yard, but his most beloved passion was being a grandpa (Papa) to his grandchildren and the neighbor “grands.” He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where he served as an usher.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 38 years, Roxanne; daughter, Stephanie (Ryan) Novosad; son, Matthew Kelker; three grandchildren, Sam (Alexa) Voss, Ali (Jon Nelson) Voss, Mattie Kelker; and one great-grandson, Sawyer Nelson; and two sisters, Jayne (David) Murphy, and Cris Pisula. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Fitzgerald and Lynda LeDuc.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, Ind., with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday Oct. 14, 2021, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
