I have now had some time to reflect on Steve's sudden passing, and what he meant to both myself and us here at AT&T.  I had the pleasure of having Steve in my organization at AT&T for the last several years.  I met him on a trip to Ft. Wayne in person, and spent time with him and his supervisor Mike Ensign on the phone many times.  Steve was always very helpful and willing to help to solve business problems, had some great skills, and had a positive outlook.  He made positive things happen too in the areas he supported.  As I read all the comments, I see that he affected others in the same way.  Steve will be greatly missed, our prayers are with his friends and co-workers, and his family.

   You were one of the best friends anyone could ever have! I truly enjoyed your company and your Insight on everything. Your loss was so unexpected and I will miss you from the depths of my soul. Rest in peace my friend.

"No words"
As many have posted in other places, there really are "no words" to describe the man, Steven "Pookie" Godfrey, let alone what he has meant to us and so many others.  There are "no words" to describe that smile that he shared with all but seemed just for you, and "no words" for what it meant to each he shared it with. When his car was so unreliable he would not go in it for something he needed but then take it when someone needed him not knowing how he'd get home, there are "no words for what that meant. When some one would be outside the circle sitting alone, Pookie would notice and get up from his spot in the circle and come sit with you. There are "no words" for what that has meant to who knows how many people. There were so many other examples of his love, joy and selflessness that now there  is grief, shock, disbelief, a void or hole, real heartbreak and tears galore but trying to think of... Pookie and gone. There's just … "no words"!

We have lost a Great Friend.
Pookie had a personality that was bigger than life. I will never forget his laugh. He was So generous. He was the type that would help anyone at a moments notice.
I could not begin to recall all the the times Pookie has helped me and done things for me. He was always there whether it was making videos of a party, vacation or wedding. If I had a computer problem he was so patient to walk me through it. If my car broke down he would come get me. If I had something to tow or haul he would loan me his truck. The list goes on & on...
There will never be another like you ! I miss you already ! Rest in Peace.

I worked with Steve at AT&T remotely and will miss hearing his voice on the phone in our meetings.  He was very conscientious of his clients' needs and will be severely missed.  He was always kind and respectful and gentleman during even the most stressful of times.  His absence will be felt across the organization.

I am so sad to know that Steve has passed.   Although we never met in person we often spoke on the phone.  Our relationship was AT&T work related but I did consider him my friend; he was always very kind, patient, well mannered and very respectful.  I am honored and blessed to have known and worked with Steve .  I will miss him dearly.  My heartfelt condolences.  

Directing my prayers to all of Steve's family that God may comfort you now and always.

I work at AT&T Steve and I shared the same work area,
 One day I was singing the song by Dan Seals(I'd really love to see you tonight) and Steve stopped and started singing it with me ..when we came to the part where it says.."I am not talking "bout moving in and I don't want to change your life" I can't remember WHAT Steve thought it said but it was HALIROUS...after that Steve was cool with me he always had a smile and a song,just a genuine good human being.. and that's hard to find these days.   STEVE YOU WERE ONE OF THE GOOD ONES NEVER CHANGED ALWAYS THE SAME.. Anybody would miss that, rest in peace. I am going to miss seeing you at work.

I will miss this guy, Pookie, you were one of the nicest, funniest guys and a good friend....

Pookie I shall miss talking to you and hugging you. You are a big cuddly Pookie teddy bear and now heaven gets to hear that wonderful chuckle of yours. Now going to Petes and the lake will have a void where you were. I hope everyone can find away . But who is now going to take underwater pictures of the fishes?❤️ Your friend Karen

Pookie was always the life of the party and making everyone laugh. He will be missed by many.
