Steven Gregory Ott

Steve was a man who cared deeply for his family and took advantage of each opportunity to spend time with them. His generous nature was felt by anyone who knew him. He was the ultimate handyman and if you needed to know anything about cars, he was "your guy." Steve worked at Protective Coatings Inc. as a dedicated employee for nearly 40 years. Even after he retired, he continued to work on odd jobs for the company, from customizing parts to servicing their boiler.

When Steve wasn't spending time with family or wrenching in the garage, he looked forward to all things NASCAR and IU Basketball. In more recent years, he had taken an interest in watching Premier League Football. Steve graduated from South Side High School.

Steve is survived by his daughters Stephanie Benzinger (Jason), Toni Ott (Derek Moreno); grandson Anthony Jones (Emily); granddaughter Judith; brother Stewart Ott; sister Peggy Schlutz (Carl) all of Fort Wayne; sister Georgia Mann (Gordon), of Auburn, CA, and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn E. and Elizabeth E. (Darnall) Ott, as well as his grandparents Forest and Louise (Botts) Ott, and Russell and Alma (Minich) Darnall.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024. The interment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice or The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The funeral arrangements are entrusted to D.O. McCombs - Covington Knolls located at 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN.
