

Susan C. "Sue" Mowan, 80, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025, after a long illness. She was born on July 5, 1945, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Darlene W. and Naomi (Snodgrass) Bermes.
She worked and broke many glass ceilings at International Harvester, GTE, Essex Wire, Caruso’s Restaurant, and as an accountant for H&R Block as well as Coulter & Justus, P.C. in Knoxville, Tennessee. She had acquired her MBA from Indiana Wesleyan and was an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. She enjoyed reading and traveling in her free time.
Upon retiring, Sue found an interest in basket making, eventually teaching others the craft. She was a member of the Anthony Wayne First Church of God, Fort Wayne and Farragut Church of Christ, Farragut, Tennessee, as well as the Foothills Craft Guild in Knoxville.
Surviving family include her devoted and loving husband, Robert L. Mowan; children, Daffney (Jeff Winston) Pagenstecher, Wendy (Valentin) Vieyra, and Jason Mowan; grandchildren, Val (Kara) Vieyra, Collin Pagenstecher, Tyler Pagenstecher, Monica Vieyra, and Anna Vieyra; great-granddaughter, Belle Davis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her siblings, Charles "Bill" Bermes, Charlotte Masters, Cleo Gonzalez, Nancy Davis, and Janet Shockney.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 11:00 am. Sue will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, privately at a later date. Memorials in Sue’s name may be made to Charis House - Fort Wayne.
