

Ted Allen Horn- Hai Anh Hung, 72, of Columbia City passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021. Ted was born December 20, 1948 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Carl and Jean (Bussard) Horn. He graduated from Elmhurst High School with the class of 1967. Ted Joined the United States Navy on November 29, 1967. He then graduated from the Defense Language Institute on the West Coast Branch at the Presidio of Monterey, CA on May 22, 1969. He then became a Vietnamese Linguist for the NSA. Due to the political climate at the time he was put on the inactive reserve on September 8, 1971. He then was honorably discharged on November 28, 1973. In April 1965 he worked at his father's side at the founding of the family business, the Indiana Auto Auction. He worked at the first auction on April 8, 1965. He worked part time at the auction until joining the Navy and then worked whenever he returned home on leave. On September 10, 1971 he began a full time career for the auction business working in various capacities as needed until the business was sold on September 1, 2007. He continued working part time for the new owners as a block clerk and security guard until his declining health necessitated his retirement on August 2013. Ted was an accomplished world traveler, having visited over 40 countries. His crowning travel achievement was an overland journey from Europe to India. Ted was privileged to have been able to freely travel through lands now ravaged by war. He had positive encounters with Islam. On September 19, 1973 he converted to Christianity in Lahore, Pakistan after a brief and serious Illness. Mark 16; 15,17, 18 " He said to them, go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. These signs will accompany those who believe, in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will lay hands on the stick and they will recover". It was a time when Muslims and Christians worked side by side. May God grant the Peshtoon people the peace and justice they deserve. In November 1995, he was privileged to travel to Vietnam as a tourist and re-established his relationship with the Vietnamese people. He had worked with the Vietnamese community in Fort Wayne on various projects. Ted frequently attended thte Vietnamese language mass at St. Patrick's, allowing the Lord Jesus to work his miracle of taking "the war" out of Vietnam. John 1:29, " The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." He invites the entire Vietnamese community to attend his visitation and Mass of Chrisitan burial. May God Grant the Vietnamese people the peace and justice they deserve. Ted married his first wife, Paula Sticler Smith on July 9, 1977, she preceded him in passing on May 16, 1980. He then met Karen Krapf and they married on February 11, 1989. Besides traveling Ted enjoyed working around his farm and hiking. Ted is survived by his wife, Karen; brother, Wayne (Judy); sister, Ann; nephews, Chad (Michelle), Ryan (Maria), and Shannon Kratzer; great-nieces, Taylor, Abigail, Ryleigh, Kinley, and Brookyln; sister-in-law, Pam (George) Steele; brother-in-law, Tom Krapf; and his two cats. A Mass of Chrisitan burial will be held at 11 am on Monday, March 15, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 2102 Harrison Street Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 2-4pm & 6-8pm on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes- Foster Park 6301 Fairfield Avenue Fort Wayne, Indiana 46807.
