Thelma Valentine Boyer

Thelma Valentine Boyer, 102 passed away Tuesday December 28, 2021 at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born February 14, 1919 in Huntington, IN. the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Pearl Ervin. Thelma graduated from South Side High School in 1937. She worked at Lincoln National Life Insurance Company as a Computer Programmer for over 20 years and retired in 1979. Thelma was a member of First Brethren Church and Faith Baptist Church.

First and foremost, she was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She never lost the joy of her salvation and demonstrated that through her love and care for her family, friends, and her churches – the First Brethren Church and then faith Baptist church, where she served in several capacities including Womens’ Ministries, Sunday School teacher, Summer Camp Counselor, Deaconess, and music ministries.

Thelma and her husband Paul loved to spend time with family and friends, travel, bowl, and square dance. She also enjoyed playing games, especially scrabble. She was an award-winning quilter. All her children and grandchildren have a quilt handmade especially them. These quilts are prized possessions!

We paise God that Thelma is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

She is survived by her children, Sally (Al) Spangler of Indianapolis, IN; Phillip F. (Patricia) Boyer of Woodburn, IN; six grandchildren, Donna Ashcroft, Amy Mandeville, Patrick (Kelly) Boyer, Paul (Beth) Boyer, Michele (Steve) Ferron, Angela (Kirk) Zimmerman, great grandchildren, Chloe and Jason Ashcroft, Madeline and Andrew Mandeville, Jacob Boyer, Michael Baumert, Hannah Winn, Troy Zimmerman, Ryan and Brendan Boyer. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Boyer, daughter and son-in-law Judith A. and Don Shaw, sons Michael R. Boyer and Paul Boyer Jr. grandson Douglas Shaw, great grandson Phillip Boyer, brothers, Albert and James Ervin and sisters, Catherine Simpson and Bonnie Roller.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM Friday January 7, 2022 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home 4017 Maplecrest Road Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior.
