Victoria L. “Vicki” Hanes, 50, of Huntington, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011. She was born on April 15, 1961 to Doug and Judy (Koons) Bowyer. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for the past 17 years and most recently as a postmaster in Yoder and Bippus. She enjoyed reading, traveling, horse-racing, and her girls night out. She enjoyed helping others which she was able to do in her work. She was loved by all of those that were able to get to know her. She was also a very loving wife, mother, and daughter.
Surviving family include her husband, Dan Hanes; daughter, Amanda Hanes; step-son, Matt (Shannon) Hanes; parents, Doug (Judy) Bowyer; brother, Dave (Jill) Bowyer; grandmother, Patricia Koons; mother-in-law, Carolyn Springer; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN with calling one hour prior. Calling hours will also be from 2-4 and 5-8 pm on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
