

Virginia Jeanne (Baribeau) Jackson of Fort Wayne died November 9, 2018 at the age of 100. She was born on August 22, 1918 in Litchfield, Michigan. Jeanne was the loving daughter of Dr. Leo Eugene Baribeau and Helen Marie Baribeau. Her family located to Grand Rapids, Michigan where she graduated from Ottawa Hills High School. Jeanne attended Northwestern University, where she met and married her beloved husband, James W. Jackson, a prominent Ft. Wayne attorney and judge. Jeanne lived with her parents in Grand Rapids during World War II while her husband served in the Us Army in the Pacific. Following the war she relocated permanently to Fort Wayne with her husband and two children. Jeanne was active in Tri Kappa and Alpha Phi Sororities, the Marian’s Catholic Women’s Club, and the Fort Wayne Country Club where she was an active bridge player. She spent special times socializing with her children, grandchildren, and many friends. Jeanne enjoyed dancing, golfing with her husband, and taking frequent trips with her family to Grand Rapids to visit relatives there. Jeanne is survived by her loving children; Dr. James (Alice) Jackson of Louisville, KY, and daughter Cindy (Terry) Roethele of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Wilson of Carmel, IN and Julie Halverson and Jenny Jackson both of Rapid City, SD. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren and special nephew and nieces in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband James in 1999, parents Leo and Helen, and brothers, Victor and Robert Baribeau. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 11 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery. A private reception will follow. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen, SPCA, or donor’s choice.
