

Walter A. Scare, 92, of Fort Wayne, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior, on March 3, 2022. Born on May 9, 1929, in Willshire, Ohio, he was a son of the late Edward S and Helen S. (Germann) Scare.
Walter was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He proudly served his country in the Army, during the Korean War, and retired in 1991, from Ryder Truck Rental Inc, after more than 35 years of service as a Regional Manager. He was also a member of American Legion Post #240, the Korean War Veterans Association, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He loved gardening, going to auctions, working on cars, going to Korean War Veterans gatherings, and took part in the Fort Wayne Honor Flight, in 2015. Walt had never known a stranger, just folks he hadn't met yet, always willing to help those in need, he was always on the go, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, of over 69 years, Wanda J. (Golliver) Scare; children, Donald W. (Sara Snoy) Scare, Rebecca A. (Rick) Wysong, Eugene D. (Rhonda) Scare; grandchildren, Timothy (Catherine) Scare, Derek (Jessica Clark) Scare, Joe (Jill) Wysong, Jon (Andrea) Wysong, Stacey (Brandon) White, and Ashley (Eric) Toy; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Henry (Shirley) Scare, Louie (LaVelle) Scare, Agnes (Lavon) Storms, Anna (Bob) Wilson, Erma (Gary) Mecklenburg, Paul (Phyllis) Scare, John (Mary Jean) Scare, and Mary (Jim) Craaybeek. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Herbert Scare, Esther Gallmeyer, and Adolph Scare.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, March 14, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
