

92. He was born on March 6, 1932, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Wayne was the second youngest of six children, having two sisters and three brothers. He left school after the 10th grade to help provide for the family working a few different jobs. At age 18, he enlisted in the US Army in mid 1950's. He married the love of his life, Mary Ann, on Valentine’s Day 1951 and shipped out three days later. A proud veteran of the Korean Conflict, he mustered out in mid 1953. Wayne learned tile setting after his time in the service, working in Nashville, Tennessee, Sarasota, Florida, and Fort Wayne, Indiana. He loved his work, not retiring until age 70. Widowed in 1986, Wayne focused on his work, his woodworking hobby, his daughter and son-in-law, his four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and all his siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Johnson and her husband Jerry; their four children, Alison, Katy, Thomas, and Doug; and eight great-grandchildren. The family would like the thank the staff at the V A Hospital, the Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home, and the hospice nurses of Stillwater Hospice. There will be no services at this time with interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the VA Hospital to benefit the patients.
