

Wendell A. “Bill” Schwartz, 89, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away in Bluffton on March 21, 2011. He was born on August 21, 1921 to the late Glen A. and Ethel (Motz) Schwartz in Allen County. He retired from Walker G. Mulligan as a food salesman in 1989. Scott’s Food Store in Waynedale provided apart-time job in retirement. Mr. Schwartz spent his whole career in the food industry. He often could be found enjoying time at the lake, cheering for the Cubs, or watching his grandkids play ball. He was a long time member of the South Wayne United Methodist Church and more recently attended Avalon Missionary Church. Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed and thought of often by all those who loved and knew him well. Surviving family include his children, Ron (Dian) Schwartz of Milford, IN, Dave (Jo) Schwartz of Ft. Wayne, Steve (Patty) Schwartz of Syracuse, IN; 14 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren; brother, Hershel Schwartz; sister-in-laws, Maxine Dentel and Viva Falk all of Bluffton, IN. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife, Doris (Elzey) Schwartz and sister, Hilda Archbold. A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Calling hours will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Hoverstock Cemetery.
