

He was a graduate of New Haven High School and the University of Cincinnati where he received a degree in business administration. Mr. Kerr was a veteran of five years service in the United States Coast Guard serving as Commanding Officer in charge of the Duluth, Minnesota Coast Guard Station. He received an honorable discharge in 1945.
He was a past chapter chairman of the Allen Wells Chapter of the American Red Cross and served as a volunteer and on the board of directors for 26 years. Mr. Kerr was past president of the Building Contractors Association of Ft. Wayne, past president of the Ft. Wayne Kiwanis Club of which he was a member since 1956, and was also a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club.
Under Mayor Robert Armstrong he served on the Board of Safety for four years. He served as president of NEIMS for ten years which was the original training program for the Ft. Wayne Paramedic Program. Mr. Kerr was a long standing member of the church council of Trinity English Lutheran Church and also served on the board of Goodwill Industries. He was the last member of the Ft. Wayne Daisies Baseball Team board of directors.
A devoted husband, beloved father and friend to many, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Helen Crabill Kerr. He is survived by his son, William L. Kerr, Jr. of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, his daughter, Debora C. Kerr of West Palm Beach, Florida and grandson, Evan L. Kerr of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 1:00 pm at Trinity English Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne, Indiana with calling two hours prior at church. Burial will be at Lindenwood Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials to be made to Trinity English Lutheran Church and the Allen Wells Chapter of the American Red Cross.
