He received his Doctorate in Dentistry in 1968, from Indiana University. Doc was a Vietnam veteran in the United States Navy. He owned and operated William O. Schelm, DDS, dental office for over 50 years in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Doc was a member of the American Legion, Arabian Horse Association, American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association and Isaac Knapp Dental Society. He was an animal lover and especially loved Arabian horses and dogs.
Doc is survived by a nephew, niece and several great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
A Visitation will be held at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825, on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with a Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at Lindenwood Cemetery.
