William Wild Jr., 87, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2018 at home in Fort Wayne, IN, surrounded by his family. Born March 24, 1931 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of William and Lina (Weingartner) Wild and grew up in Newark, Irvington and Springfield with his brother Anton and Sister Anna Marie who all preceded him in death.
He was married to the love of his life, Christine (Appel), for 55 years. Bill served as a U.S. Army antiaircraft artilleryman from 1951-1954. He worked as a printer for the Newark Evening News and Newark Star Ledger before retiring 1996. Willie proudly danced as a member of the Bayern Verein Newark and sang with the Newark Saengerchor. He was a Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Union Council #4504.
Survived by his wife and children, he is a loving father to Christopher (Susie), Eleanor, Anna (Richard) Schaeffer and Otto (Atty). Bill is the proud grandfather of seven; Erich, Emily, Rosie, Elijah, Veronica, Luke, and Tristan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46825 with calling 1 hour.
