During her formative years, Ada attended elementary school in Mineral Wells; middle school in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from North Side High School in Fort Worth. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Physical Education from Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth in 1949.
In the Spring of 1948, she met her future husband, Robert Hambric, who was living next door to her in Fort Worth. Robert and Ada married at her parent’s home on June 6, 1949. They moved to Lubbock so Robert could earn his college degree. After his graduation, they moved back to Fort Worth. Then moved to Houston in 1958 and lived there until relocating to Arlington in 2001. They were married for 58 years.
She enjoyed her career as a Librarian Assistant at the Lakewood Branch Public Library in Houston for 24 years, retiring in 1989. In those pre-internet days, she was the go-to person for finding information. If you were a child in the local schools, you most likely knew her and she knew you.
There wasn’t a jigsaw or crossword puzzle she could not solve. She also enjoyed camping, traveling, taking care of her flowerbeds and embroidery. She would never turn down an offer from her daughters to take her to a casino or shopping. Ada was a member East Houston United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir for 43 years. She joined First United Methodist Church Mansfield after moving to Arlington and was still driving herself to church at 90.
She became a resident of Cedar Bluff Assisted Living in Mansfield in November 2017. Ada led an active life there until Dementia in the last few months of life robbed her of the activities she enjoyed. She never missed bingo; would work jigsaw puzzles at all hours of the day and night; and has colored hundreds of adult coloring pages.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Alex and Mary Daniels; brothers Fred and Ike Daniels and sister Dorothy Massengill.
Ada is survived by her children, Ronald Hambric and wife Traci, Mary Carter and husband Roger and Cara Jarzombek and husband Mike; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Bonnie Daniels.
