Bernard W. Bartek, 84, passed away surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bernard’s life was defined by his unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Born in Belton, Texas, Bernard grew up with a deep love for sports and service. He proudly served his country as an Army veteran, after having played four years of college football for Texas Christian University (TCU), where his passion for teamwork and perseverance shone through. His love for competition and community continued throughout his life, especially as he watched his son lead Aledo High School Bearcats to a state championship in 1998—one of his proudest moments as a father.
Above all else, Bernard was a family man. Love was shown not just through words, but through his actions—always present, always dependable, always putting his family before himself. His marriage of 60 years is a testament to his deep and enduring devotion.
He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him. His family finds comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, sacrifice, and strength will live on in the generations he guided and protected.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne; his daughter, Tracie and husband Larry Vestall; his son, Clinton Bartek and wife Siobhan Bartek; his many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
His love, laughter, and legacy will never be forgotten.
