Donna, good wishes and prayers are with you and your family.  I have good memories of the fun and educational times the youth of the church shared in Bowie, much of it at the Stambaugh home.  Later at Richland Hills it was good to see a childhood friend.  Bobby's kindness to everyone and humility were special.

So sorry to hear about Bob.  Growing up in Bowie with him was an honor and privilege with many dear memories and wonderful times.  Our families were close and many good times were spent at their home, and all the church activities we enjoyed together.I pass the street where they lived almost every day, and he and his mom and dad are remembered with great fondness.  My deepest sympathy to your family.....May all the good memories you shared together be a comfort and help ease your sorrow

Gary and I have memories of Bob as a man with a kind and generous heart.  We did not know him well, but we always enjoyed his gracious hospitality at your annual FWC faculty Christmas party.  You always spoke lovingly of him, which is the fruit of an honorable Christian life.  You are in our prayers.

To Donna and Carol:  Bobby was a very good man and co-worker.  We enjoyed talking about TCU.  May God comfort and bless you in the days ahead. Know that he is in a better place now.  Cherish the memories.

A MEASURE OF FRUIT


We will mourn the loss of a wonderful friend, but it will be tempered because we know the far side of Jordan had a host of welcoming saints to escort him into the land without time, where sorrow is an unknown.  Those of us who shared time with him in sweet fellowship knew the fellowship was authentic, the kind we know as fruit of the Spirit, and though Bob Stambaugh was rich in the great attributes of that Galatian admonition, we quickly recognized some that just seemed to be the testimony of a life lived for the glory of God.  It was evident Bob believe that was his purpose in life and he showed it in the care and affection he lavished on his beloved Donna, daughter Carol, and all of us who recall that gentle smile, the warmth of his handshake. The peace he reflected was like a balm that surely sustained him during those days of deteriating health that became his companion in later years.  Bob and I shared a common employer at one time, as well as a common skill and as we talked about work experiences, I noted that he always let temperance blanket his conversation even when I knew he had good reason to point out some injustices that were like tares in a crop of harvest.  It seems to me that all of us gravitate toward one who is slow to anger, quick to offer a disarming smile and to make our greetings a pleasant exchange of joy.  Bob was one of those kind of guys.  He always had those regular friends whom he chose of spend time with whether in those regular fellowship experiences at worship services, or in some social setting, and I felt honored to be one that he often included in those great exchanges of goodwill.  I think all of us have some special ponies we like to ride, and Fort Worth Christian School was one out of the stable first.  It could be that any Christian endeavor was worthy of his contribution of time, effort, and monetary support, but the purple and white Wildcats of his advanced schooling and the Cardinals of FWC were recipients of his devotion to their well-being.  There are some wonderful people whose roots go back to a Montague county town of Bowie, Texas, some who claim kinship to me, but I know of none who were nurtured any better in living the life dictated by the fruit of the Spirit like that demonstrated by our Christian brother Bob Stambaugh who claimed a mansion in heaven on Thursday past.

Written this the 16th day of February  in the year 2013 in fond remembrance of my friend  Bob Stambaugh who crossed Jordan  on a  cold Texas Valentine Day of February 14, 2013.  May Donna, Carol and her husband Chris, grandchildren Kaeden and Cole Fraily build on the legacy Bob left in your pathway.
