Bonifacio Rodriguez

Bonifacio Rodriguez was born in Zacatecas, Mexico to mother Dolores Ruiz and father Marcos Rodriguez. He was the third oldest of eight children. He married Juana Castillo in 1960. Together they had nine children.

Bonifacio was very young when came to the United States in search of a better life for his family. He worked endlessly picking cotton to send money to his wife and children in Mexico. Traveling with a group of cotton pickers he was able to see most of the United States. During this time, he said his biggest worry was his family in Mexico and finding tortillas to eat for dinner in the states.

After many years of working hard he was able to bring his entire family to California. His children all began to prosper and begin their own lives. He worked till he retired in 2005, and shortly after he decided that he and Juana would move to Texas. Their move to Texas, was to be closer to their children and grandchildren. In 2010, he decided to work as a crossing guard at a local elementary in Fort Worth, TX. There he worked till the year 2020. It was devastating for him to no longer do a job that brought him so much joy for many years. The staff, parents, and children loved him.

However, his body was aching and he could no longer keep working. In 2022, the doctors diagnosed him with a very weak heart and kidney failure. He was given only weeks to live. Determined, Bonifacio fought the odds and traveled not once but twice back to his home in Zacatecas, Mexico. He fought to live for ten months after his original diagnosis.

Bonifacio is survived by brother Javier Rodriguez and sister Estella Rodrigiuz. Along with his wife Juana Rodriguez, their nine children; Delia Tovar, Magdalena Zapata, Rogelio Rodriguez, Yolanda Rodriguez, Beatriz Pimentel, Tevan Rodriguez, Araceli Rodriguez, Patricia Rodriguez, Armando Rodriguez, nineteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

He will be missed by many and he will never be forgotten. His family will continue his legacy by showing determination, responsibility, and strength as he showed his entire life.

Bonifacio Rodríguez nació en Zacatecas, México de madre Dolores Ruiz y padre Marcos Rodríguez. Era el tercero mayor de ocho hermanos. Se casó con Juana Castillo en 1960. Juntos tuvieron nueve hijos.

Bonifacio era muy joven cuando llegó a los Estados Unidos en busca de una mejor vida para su familia. Trabajó sin descanso recogiendo algodón para enviar dinero a su esposa e hijos en México. Viajando con un grupo de recolectores de algodón, pudo ver la mayor parte de los Estados Unidos. Durante este tiempo, dijo que su mayor preocupación era su familia en México y encontrar tortillas para cenar en los Estados Unidos.

Después de muchos años de trabajar duro, pudo traer a toda su familia a California. Todos sus hijos comenzaron a prosperar y comenzaron sus propias vidas. Trabajó hasta jubilarse en 2005, y poco después decidió que él y Juana se mudarían a Texas. Su mudanza a Texas fue para estar más cerca de sus hijos y nietos. En 2010, decidió trabajar como guardia de cruce en una escuela primaria local en Fort Worth, TX. Allí trabajó hasta el año 2020. Fue devastador para él dejar un trabajo que tantas alegrías le dio durante muchos años. El personal, los padres y los niños lo amaban.

Sin embargo, le dolía el cuerpo y ya no podía seguir trabajando. En 2022, los médicos le diagnosticaron un corazón muy débil e insuficiencia renal. Le dieron solo unas semanas de vida. Decidido, Bonifacio luchó contra todo pronóstico y viajó no una sino dos veces de regreso a su hogar en Zacatecas, México. Luchó por vivir diez meses después de su diagnóstico original. A Bonifacio le sobreviven hermano Javier Rodríguez y su hermana Estella Rodriguez. Junto a su esposa Juana Rodríguez, sus nueve hijos; Delia Tovar, Magdalena Zapata, Rogelio Rodriguez, Yolanda Rodriguez, Beatriz Pimentel, Tevan Rodriguez, Araceli Rodriguez, Patricia Rodriguez, Armando Rodriguez, diecinueve nietos y seis bisnietos.

Muchos lo extrañarán y nunca será olvidado. Su familia continuará con su legado mostrando determinación, responsabilidad y fortaleza como lo demostró él toda su vida.
