Bonnie was born in Port Huron, Michigan to Frank and Belle Williams on August 28, 1942. Then at the age of 5, she was loved and raised by her mother Belle and her Stepfather, Edward Distelrath. She was the oldest of 4 children. Bonnie met the love of her life, Donald J Meador, through a true love story. Her uncle Ron who was only 11 months older than her, served in the army with Don in Korea. Ron asked Bonnie to write to this Texan as a pen pal. They corresponded for many months until Donald came home on a leave to meet in person. Then on January 20, 1962 they married and were married for 54 years when Donald preceded her in death. Bonnie was a Army wife and traveled and lived all over the USA, and several other countries in the following years. She was a homemaker until they retired back to Bangs, Texas where she worked for several years at the Bangs Nursing Home. She then worked at the snack shack where she loved visiting with the customers who she thought of as family, until she finally retired. After she retired, she loved to go back to Michigan for family reunions with her daughter to see all of her aunts, uncles, cousins and childhood friends. She loved to go on vacation with her son and his family to Corpus, San Antonio, and anywhere else the road took them.
Bonnie never met a stranger. She loved people, especially babies. She loved to play bingo at the VFW hall and scratch lottery tickets. Her smile and blue eyes made you feel right at home. Everyone was welcome at her house. Bonnie always said if she ever hit the lotto she was sharing it equally with her family and a few close friends.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Betty (BJ) Daughrity; son, Donnie Meador wife Tamra;
grandchildren, John Michael Daughrity, Ami Nicole Daughrity, Deanna Dawn Daughrity, Catherine Sue Moreno, Shelby Dawn Meador, and Zachary Donald Meador; great grandchildren, Ashton Michaels Daughrity, Brooklyn Ashley Moreno, Domingo (Cross) Moreno and Dani Jane Daughrity; brothers, Edward Distelrath wife Jana and Patrick Distelrath; brother-in-law, Johnnie Meador and wife Gayle, brother-in-law, Jerry Meador; two sisters-in-law, Doris Williams and Hope Meador; beloved nephew Jerry Don Meador who she loved like a son; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins
Bonnie loved her kids, but she said her grandkids were her greatest gifts and her great grandkids were the icing on the cake. Bonnie loved to take them to Bingo with her and started them young. They barely could keep up with the dobbers on the numbers, but the laughs and memories they shared over the years will always be remembered. She would sit for hours at the state park while they played in the water. Content to just let them have fun. They loved their grandma. Her house had an endless supply of ice cream, sodas and junk food for all those times she kept them. When asked how they acted after a night spent with the grandparents, her reply was “They were as good as gold”. How could they not be when they never heard the word "no" and were given everything they wanted. As her grandkids got older and so did she, she just enjoyed visiting with each of them, sitting on the couch telling them of her youth and things she had done.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Meador; parents Ed and Belle Distelrath, Frank Williams; brother, Jim Williams; son in law, Danny Dale Daughrity; sister in law, Patricia Distelrath and nephew, Ryan Distelrath.
Bonnie’s passing truly has left a whole in her family’s heart. She fought a good fight. She may of lost the battle but she won the war when she went to be with the Lord.
