Calvin was educated in the Fort Worth Independent School District, having attended school in Como. He was a 1970 graduate of Como Junior-Senior High School. He was fondly known as “Butterfly” to his classmates and friends. It was later shortened to “Fly” because of the way he carried himself and his style of dress. Calvin didn’t let his education end at high school. He went on to further his education at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX.
At an early age, Calvin accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He united with the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ in Fort Worth, TX under the leadership of Superintendent R.L. Taylor in 1978. He was a faithful member and used his voice as a member of the male chorus.
Calvin was employed at Frank Kent Motor Company and Western Company of America for several years. With his experience, he began his career vocation at
Hydra Rig in 1995. He worked there for 21 years and worked his way through the ranks to the position of Purchasing Manager. He retired February 12, 2016.
He met Debra Barrett, fell in love and they were united in marriage on May 15, 1987. To this union one son, Brandon, was born.
Calving enjoyed spending time with his family. He also took time out for horse racing, dominoes and playing cards. He looked forward to his evening with the fellas and sporting events. He loved to dance and dressed
appropriately (“Fly”) for any and all occasions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Linnie; Brothers, Richard Styles, Robert Styles, Mark Styles and Lewis Bray; and sister, Dorothy Styles Starks.
