Service: 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, in Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel.
Charles graduated from Kearny High School and immediately following enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as an MP during the Korean War. Upon his discharge he worked for Bell Telephone, prior to his employment with Braniff Airlines in which he spent 38 years, and met who were to be his longtime friends. Charles was an avid deep-sea fisherman and golfer. Of the latter, it could be said if Charlie had an orange ball he would play in the snow.
His son fondly recalls the fishing trips, golf tournments and the one-on-one talks with his father, where he learned true value of ethics, morality and true compassion his father had for friends and family. After retiring from Braniff, Charles moved to North Richland Hills where he lived out his days close to his children. Charles passed away after vascular complications and was a fighter to the end. Such was his love for life. But in knowing his beloved daughter "Mouse" was sure to be waiting for him with open arms and eager to be reunited with him. His son has this to say, Pop you taught me life is a roller coaster and I am not ready to get off this ride just yet. But tee up a ball, bait a line for me, 'til this ride is over, 'til then I love you very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Rice Sr. and Mona Rice; brother, Jimmy Rice; and daughter, Laura Anne Rice.
Survivors: Sister, Anne Marra; son, Charles H. Rice IV; and granddaughters, Jennifer, Kate, Nikki Rice and Alesha Rice Good.
Arrangements under the direction of Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel, Fort Worth, TX.
