Charles was born May 28, 1929, in Albany, Texas. He was born to a family of one brother and two sisters with parents, John and Lessie Stone. Most of his childhood was spend in Presidio, and at 18, in July 1947, he left to join the U.S. Army. He met his German wife, Regina, while stationed in Germany. They came back to America with their first child, a healthy baby daughter, Ellen JoAnne. When Charles was honorably discharged as a corporal in June 1952, he secured a job with Santa Fe Railroad. During this time, the family had three sons, Michael, Charles Jr. and Henry. Charles became an accomplished draftsman with Ashburn Map Co. of Fort Worth. After his retirement, he lived alone and spent the last five years of his life at an area nursing home. He was very passionate about his religion and he was very well regarded by many at the nursing home. His close relatives came often to visit him to celebrate his birthdays and special holidays. He left this world with a peaceful serenity and the last minutes of his life were shared with Ellen and Robert as his hand was held on his short heavenly journey.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Stone; and his sisters, Betty and Joanne.
Survivors: Daughter, Ellen J. Chase and husband, Robert; sons, Charles Stone Jr., Henry Stone and wife, Terri; brother, John Stone and wife, Wynell; grandchildren, Jeremy, Chris and Steven Stone, Kim Lopez; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
