Cheryl Lynn Killian

2 septembre 19537 avril 2020

Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Killian (Kimsey) was born on September 2, 1953, in Dallas Texas to Larry and Norma. She died unexpectedly on April 7, 2020, in Arlington, Texas at the age of 66.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter Jessica Charvet; Son-in-law Scott Charvet; Grandson Justin Killian; Grandson James Clapp; Great Grandchildren Ashley, Emma, and Matthew Killian; Sister Teresa Tucker; Brother-in-law Ronnie Tucker; Brother Mark Kimsey; Nieces Kristi Tibbs and Amanda Tucker: Nephew Lawrence Kimsey; and boyfriend Charles MacLeod. Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents Larry Rex Kimsey and Norma Joyce Kimsey.

She graduated from Grand Prairie High School and attended undergraduate school and received a Bachelors's degree from Rice University in Houston and a Masters's degree from the University of North Texas in Denton. She spent her professional life as a nursing home administrator and owner before her retirement.

Cheryl was brainy, feisty, successful and ever the staunch supporter and advocate for the most vulnerable in society; the elderly, children and animals. Her professional life was dedicated to the nursing home industry where she excelled at protecting and defending the rights of our senior citizens all the way to Washington, D.C. She fed the raccoons and possums in her neighborhood and she loved her pets as if they were her children. She was always at the ready with compliments and encouragement to anyone who needed it. Even when her own life was painful and complicated, she smiled through her tears. I will forever hear her nourishing laughter in my head. Thank you, God, for sharing this beautiful soul with us. Today Cheryl is far beyond the cares of us mortals she left behind, but she will forever hold the dearest place in our hearts.

We are allowed this day to be mournful, to grieve our best friend, our mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother. All those who knew and loved Cheryl would say she was one of the greatest gifts in our lives.

Cheryl and I were friends from 1st grade at Austin Elementary through graduation at GPHS. I haven’t seen her for years but she was always a wonderful sweet friend. RIP Cheryl 🙏🏻💗

Some of my best times spent with Cheryl was camping. We both loved to be in the great outdoors in nature. This is one of my favorite memories of Cheryl. You can see from her smile how happy she was to be warming her hands by the campfire, not a care in the world. This photo was taken in 1978, I believe in Idaho.

It was such a shock, and with sorrow, to see the notification of Cheryl’s passing. We just communicated, via Messenger, this past Sunday! I was a classmate of Cheryl’s since 1st Grade, and looked forward to visiting with her at our class reunions. Even though we shared different political views, most of the time, we were willing to agree to disagree.
I pray peace for you in this unexpected time of loss, but may her memory of her unending, great love for her family bring you comfort. God Bless you all and hold you in His arms.

Cheryl was my second mom growing up. She treated me as her own. I think she thought I was helping her keep Jess out of trouble, but little did she know we were into all kinds of trouble! Boy when she caught us... Oh Lord we had hell to pay. From shuffling back and forth to the skating rink, mall, to get food at midnight to me taking her car for joy rides before I even had my license. She treated us like a mom was suppose to. Hard when she needed to be and soft when she wanted to be. I respected her so much for all she had been through in her life. She Lived for Jessica and the kids! She will be deeply missed but never forgotten 🙏❤️ love you Mom - Sam

Cheryl was always very kindhearted, but she could also be very tough. She was a fearless defender of disadvantaged people and animals. I will miss reading her many Facebook posts. She was always willing to take our politicians to task when she felt they weren't addressing the needs of people. She had a huge heart and will be very much missed.
In 1986, Cheryl and Her husband James and I with my wife Lisa, went on a trip to the Island of St. Kitts. This photograph is Cheryl on a boat excursion from that trip. We had a great time.
