Our sweet, wonderful loving Christine has been claimed by the Almighty. Christine departed this earth, appropriately, on a Sunday morning, December 8, in the year 2024.
Christine was born on August 6, 1968. A native Texan, Christine lived here her entire life, the last 25 years of which were spent in Fort Worth, Texas with David Irish, her devoted husband.
Christine was at times a reluctant camper when she was young, spending many vacations in a pop-up Star Craft trailer with her family at places such as Big Bend, Rocky Mountain national Park, Chaco Canyon, the Petrified Forest, Mesa Verde and many more. One fateful hike to McKittrick Canyon in Guadalupe national Park had her uprooted with her family shortly after arrival. A forest Ranger required them to leave because of a wildfire, so a quick hike back to base camp ensued.
Christine was an avid reader from a young age. She always checked out the number of books allowed from Emily Fowler library in Denton. Christine's favorite books were mysteries and romance, but she would read virtually any genre.
Christine was a true Star Trek: The Next Generation, fan and watched that show religiously with her younger sister, Jessica and younger brother Mike. Christine continued that passion for all things Star Trek throughout her life.
Christine graduated from Ryan high school in Denton, Texas in 1986. She continued her education first at Gallaudet university in Washington DC, then transferred to Southwest Institute for the Deaf in Big Spring Texas, where she earned an associates degree. Christine continued her education at Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas where she earned a BA in business administration in 1997.
Christine was happily employed at the Summerglen library in Fort Worth, Texas for the past 25 years. She embraced her deafness and had stories to tell about young clients of the library with whom she interacted. She will be greatly missed by her coworkers and library family. Christine also loved animals. Her surviving pet, Harry, a ginger cat was named after Prince Harry, no doubt the name a result of her fascination with the royal family of the United Kingdom. Christine is mourned by her husband David Irish, parents, Michael and Laura Burgess, and all her many relatives in Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri and her many friends far and wide
Christie, we miss you and love you and can’t believe that you are gone. Rest in peace.
Godspeed on your next adventure, maybe visiting a galaxy far, far away.
