God gave me one of the greatest gifts of my life when my Daniel was born and the worst nightmare when he passed away. My son was a special person, he lived a life that only a few can dream of. I have many memories of him. My favorite is the one that when I would come home and sit in my chair, he would rub down my back and shoulders until it hurts (I would tell him that) he would call it his, "I love you speech."  No matter how bad my day was he would brightened it up. My consolation is that my mother  now has her grandson to keep her company. Still, I can't believe that two greatest loves of my  life have departed in the same year. We will meet again someday. Rest in peace my son Daniel "Chuyito" Torres.



Where do I begin? How do I begin? My brother was a force. He lived and loved life to the best he could. He was always looking out for his family and those he cared about. He did what he wanted to. He loved our mother. He went out of his way to help everyone. He was a pain at times. But even then we still loved him. He was always asking me to accompany him on his adventures. I am grateful I got to have celebrated so many journeys with him.  I am grateful that I spent my birthday with him before he passed. He was something that words can not describe. He was my brother grim. I helped to protect him as long as I could. Heaven has gained a beautiful star gem. I will miss you brother, my fallen Captain. Life's to short, watch over us till we meet again for you our now our guardian angel.

He loved his family and had a special greeting for each person.

Daniel enjoyed life by meeting and helping people. He loved his family and would protect and help out his brothers emotionally and financially.  His heart was so giving that he would take the shirt off his back to help someone else.
God gave me a son for 30 years.  Daniel lived it as he saw fit.  He was a free spirit  
but his his family came first.  He took 6 months off when his dad had an accident without pay.  Then when I got sick he did the same.  Not many people will put there job on hold to help out sickly parents.
At a very young age Daniel was as an enterpernure.  He enjoyed  making jewelry, spinning fire, poi, buying and selling cars etc. At sixteen he bought his first car with his own money.  Then he bought his house when he was 20, afterwards he started his own night club.  He dipped his hand in to many businesses.
Chuy was his family nickname (it's short for Jesus), I miss his hugs and what's up mama.  His ideas for future projects and telling me he was going to change the world.  Chuy you will always remain in my heart and prayers


Daniel,  you always encouraged me with my photography so this is for you my friend. Will miss our late night FB chats. 

Daniel. I never thought I’d be in a position to talk about how you impacted my life. You called me “Psycho Boy” because I was devoid of empathy and emotion. Well today I can truly say all I have is sadness and empathy for your passing. We spoke a couple of days before your death. You were excited about your new Jewelry line and Sugar Skulls. We reminisced on all of the art work you made me to fuel my obsession with the Joker. We would rap lyrics of Korn’s ‘All in the Family’ back and forth. You’d constantly beat me at chess. 
I would tell you that Nine Inch Nails was a far superior band than Mindless Self Indulgence. You would tell me “you taught me how to polish, but I perfected it.” You were arrogant and a jerk but you had the biggest heart I’ve ever seen. You’d do anything for anyone. On my 29th birthday you branded my left forearm with a hot ring. I was mad, but now I’m grateful. I’ll never forget you. Thanks for being a great friend. 

“What have I become, My sweetest friend? Everyone I know goes away in the end.” 

Daniel - A part of me doesn’t want to believe this is really real... I’m so sorry i wasn’t there when you attempted to reach out, now you’re gone and I’ll never get to say how much I loved you and what a great friend you were. I will remember your voice calling me sénorita forever... Your face, spirit, and the impact you left on this earth and everyone you knew I will carry in my heart forever. You met and affected so many people in a lot of ways. You were so talented and one of a kind. You were a wild and amazing spirit and I thank you for the amazing years of friendship. I wish I could have made it back to Texas where they are laying you to rest back home. I’ve cried out to you in prayer the past few days hoping you can hear me. Its so unfair and devastating that you had to leave so young... it kills me I’ll never get to see you have kids or get older, you had so much talent and potential and most of all, such heart...I’m sorry and I love you friend. I hope you are at peace..I’m truly grateful I got to know you 

I knew you since you were a baby. I knew you as my Danny.  My fondest memory of you and your brothers were when we would get together right after Christmas. The last memory of you I have is when you and your mom came to Chicago in March. You always took care of your mom. Take care of her from heaven. She needs you now more than ever. 

I have been having a hard time finding the words to express how I feel and what you meant to me.. after reading all these kind words about you makes so happy and grateful that God made us family.  We grew up together, we were at every birthday and family function together. Once you guys moved to Texas it was harder keeping in touch but it made going to Texas or you guys coming to
Chicago that much more meaningful.  Anytime we would come you and your family would make us feel so welcome and at home. I’m glad we were able to get all of the family together for the reunion. Those are moments we will never forget.

First off let me say how much i’m are gonna miss you... you and your bros were like the older brothers I never had.  Thanks for all your life lessons, and stories. Even though we didn’t always see eye to eye, we had an unconditional love for one another that only blood brings. Glad you made it home and I pray for the repose of your soul and that you keep looking out for me and the family from up there. Rest In Peace homie.

Daniel my brother my friend my musician my heart I thank you so much for holding me up when I couldn't stand for speaking when I had no words for fighting for me when I already threw in the towel you allowed me to have so many great adventures an see this world as you saw it no matter the time of the day you were there I will miss our car ride vacations our conversations about life an your dreams your heart was bigger than your ego an I am proud to call you my brother I kno your watching over us now an i will never give up ur legacy I love you very much sweet dreams captain Chuy

The legacy Chuy left behind is one that will live with us forever. He was always of helping hands, encouraging words, and inspiring thoughts. Rest easy primo you will missed.

I was "grandma" to all of my grandson Billy's friends, and that included Daniel. I have known Daniel over 12 years with his fiat convertible with his boom box blaring in the back seat...Billy wanted to make Daniel godfather to his son Aubry but our religious beliefs have no godparents but Daniel was always in Aubrys life. RIP Daniel

My most  vivid memories happened within this past year and a half, especially with us being up here in Chicago. Last summer after one of our busy family reunion days, we celebrated Alexey's birthday and you stayed the rest of the night to celebrate. I got to learn more about you, hear some of your rapping and your dreams for your next big steps. You even stayed the night and helped me clean up the day after, which was amazing! We were able to bond and I got a chance to learn more about you. The next memory I have is when you came to visit one of these last times and you invited us to an ATB concert. I had no idea who they were, but Alexey sure did.  He got real excited at the opportunity (I think this was the first concert I have gone to with Alexey).  Alexey and I moved to the music and stayed in the same place, while Chuy, you were so lively, out and about dancing and meeting people. You even got a chance to get to the front of the crowd.  You are a very passionate person and cared so much for your family, especially your mom.  I am so sorry you won't get a chance to follow your dreams here on earth, but hopefully you are at peace in heaven. You will be missed. Love, Rosita

Daniel wrote and recited a poem for my Kayleigh entitled "Kay?" at her memorial in 2012. I can't find the video of him performing it fire spinning and I don't have the words written down but I hold the memory of it close. May you find peace and comfort in the weary days ahead and may you rest in the light of his memory.

What can I say about Chuy? I feel that as the oldest of our circle of cousins it is my obligation to start by saying I'm sorry. I am sorry for not being  there more, I am sorry for not trying to get closer as we grew older but I am most sorry that I could not have told you this in person. I only pray that you forgive me for not trying harder. It's sad that it took losing someone I loved dearly to open my eyes and make sure I reach out to all my cousins more. Chuy I will and for always love you and your memories I will forever cherish. To soon primo. 

Chuy loved the  family.  He left a beautiful legacy of love, forgiveness, understanding, and compassion for the loney and misunderstood.  Rest In Peace, and may pertryual light shine upon him.  

You kno i was thinking to myself and how i used to run into you everywhere. I mean literally every concert club/show restraunt or even just the gas station we always ran into eachother and know i kno ill never get to run to anywhere again and that sadden's me. But i kno your in a great place now far from all the hurt and trouble's of this life. REST EASY BIG HOMIE WE WILL ALL REUNITE ONE DAY!

Chuy was a dreamer, always looking for the next big thing. Well Chuy, you are at the biggest stage possible now - Heaven! I wish you could have realized more of your dreams on earth, but God (not sure why) needed you now. Knowing you, you probably have already showed God your designs. Rest in Peace Chuy!

 While I was going through pictures, I found this one. I wonder if the aluminum ring he was wearing was one of his first prototypes.

He always greeted me, "Abuelita Sol de mi Vida."  He was one of my lights! Now, everyday is a bit dimmer without Mi Chuy. Que Descanse En Paz.

I have no clue where to begin. I met Daniel what, 11 years ago through my sister? I was only here for a visit, I was living in Germany at the time. Then I moved back to the states and due to circumstances had to move to Wichita Falls to my uncle's because I had nowhere to go here.  When I was told to leave, my own family wouldn't make the 2hour drive to come get me. Daniel on the other hand jumped into his car and made that drive. From that day forward I knew he would be in my life forever. He is the definition of true friendship. I love you, Daniel. Forever.

I remember when we would play monopoly at my aunts house for hours . I wish I could go back to those days of family gatherings and love.  I know there were time we did not see eye to eye but at the end of the day we were family and he knew that.  I wish I would have had the chance to tell him how much he meant to me and our family.

Daniel. A person who gave so much of his life to others. It's hard to explain what he meant to our family, because there's just so much to say. He's the one who showed up and made every day feel like it was the best day ever. Always loved our children like they were his own best friends. Always came over with a smile on his face, and love in his heart. He's the one you call when you're having a bad day, and he'd always tell you that there's so much to be grateful for. Daniel is the person who would give you the shirt off his back. He was so supportive and loving. Daniel will always be remembered for his optimism and encouragement. 

Daniel, I know that you are watching over all of us now, and just know that your words will never leave my mind. I will always be grateful for what I have and always be striving for more, like you always were.  

I've  known Daniel for about 11 years or more. He was a really kindhearted person. Very savvy and up with the times. I liked that about him. We partied quite a few times together , from the lake, or at his house in Saginaw, or to his whole fam coming out and shooting fireworks out in the country where I live on a 4th of July.  We had some good times buddy. You will be missed. Be sure to watch over us and put in a good word. Cause we never know when the good Lord is gonna call one of us up.

 Uncle Daniel is the best.  I   always hung out with him all the time, and we had so much fun. Love maximus I miss you so much. ❤️🙏🏻

Siento mucho por el dolor tan grande que deben estar sintiendo por la pérdida de su ser querido. Por eso les escribo, para que sepan que la Biblia da esperanza.
