Dianne Sue Storm passed away on October 20, 2022 at Autumn Leaves Memory Care of CityView in Fort Worth, Texas with her beloved husband of 60 years by her side. Dianne was born on August 28, 1941, to Mary and Vernon Swank in Toledo, Ohio. Raised in South Toledo, she graduated from Libby High School in 1959. Dianne met her future husband Richard “Dick” Storm when they were both students at the University of Toledo. They were married in Toledo on August 25, 1962. The first years of their married life were spent in Oklahoma where Dick was stationed at Fort Sill as a Lieutenant in the Army. Dianne and Dick were blessed with three children: Richard, Bryan and Andrea. Their life took them all across the country in numerous moves and Dianne remained committed to making sure her family was comfortable and happy in Orlando, FL, St. Louis, MO, Houston, TX, Jacksonville, TX, Omaha, NE, and Hastings, IA before retiring to Fort Worth, TX.
Dianne had many interests and passions. She had a tremendous green thumb and all varieties of plants and flowers flourished under her devoted care. She loved animals and was especially smitten with Dudly, her beloved Bichon Frise. She also loved to engage her artistic side through interests as varied as ceramics and stained glass, to needlepoint and photography. She loved to read and listening to music, especially Neil Diamond and classical music. She was a life-long learner and after her children left the home, Dianne took courses to become proficient in accounting and book keeping and later took numerous computer classes. But Dianne had no greater passion than spending time with her grandchildren. They loved her wonderful sense of humor and will always remember her willingness to engage in any activity they asked of her, including the wildest roller coaster rides at Disney World. After first living independently in Fort Worth, Dianne and Dick moved to Brookdale CityView, a wonderful retirement community where they were blessed with numerous friends and a strong community of faith.
Eventually Dianne moved to Autumn Leaves, where her devoted and loyal husband visited her as often as he could, always bringing her favorite snacks of frozen grapes and jolly ranchers.
Dianne is survived by her husband Dick and her children Richard Storm (wife, Mandy) of Fort Worth, TX and Andrea Goy (husband, Ryan) of Malvern, IA. Her beloved grandchildren are Michael Storm (Houston, TX), Atticus Storm (Fort Worth, TX), and Ashley, Grant and Alissa Goy (Malvern, IA). Dianne was preceded in death by her parents and her son Bryan Storm.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 11th at 2pm in the Chapel of Chimes at Laurel Land Funeral Home & Memorial Park with reception to follow. Dianne was laid to rest with Bryan’s ashes at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Toledo Ohio on November 5th 2022.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in Dianne’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org). Finally, the family would like to thank Autumn Leaves for the loving and compassionate care they gave to Dianne throughout her time there, and in particular, during the final days of her life.
