On the afternoon of December 19, 2024, Dorothy Lou Etheridge passed away peacefully with family at her side. Born on December 29, 1939, in Center, Texas to A.W. Williams and Charity Williams, she was the oldest of four siblings, L.V. Williams, Harold Dean Williams, and J.W. Williams.
Dorothy was a proud graduate of Prairie View A&M University where she earned her bachelor’s degree and met the love of her life. She married Robert Etheridge, and relocated to Fort Worth, Texas, where they lived out their lives; her husband preceded her in death in 2010. To their union, three sons, Robert Jr., Harold, and Louis were born. Dorothy cherished her grandchildren Tyler, Zachariah, and Makaela and her great-grandchildren Miles and Genevieve. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother who professionally taught throughout the FWISD school system for over twenty years. Dorothy was a beloved family matriarch whose smile, presence, and cooking will be deeply missed.
Dorothy leaves in remembrance a brother, sister-in-law, three sons, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. She lives on through her impact on her children and the countless lives she touched. We gain solace in the knowledge that she is pain-free and once again reunited with Dad.
