

A Visitation for Eleanor will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76112, with a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
Eleanor Pearl (Fox) Goodwin, a woman of exceptional intelligence, strength, kindness, and fairness, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and service. Born on June 7, 1939 and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, Eleanor graduated from Fair Park High School before attending and graduating from Centenary College. She went on to have a remarkable 30-year career at Parkland Memorial Hospital, where her dedication and expertise impacted the lives of countless people.
In retirement, Eleanor shared her passions with those around her. She was a skilled sewer, quilter, and crocheter, passing these cherished crafts on to her children. She also delighted in frying catfish, a dish she generously shared with family, friends, and colleagues. In her leisure time, Eleanor enjoyed playing Mahjong and solving puzzles, activities that brought her joy and satisfaction.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James G. Goodwin, Jr., and her daughter, Donna O'Neal.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Doris Bailey of Georgetown, Texas, her daughter, Deborah, her son, Jim and his wife, Karen, all of Fort Worth. She is also survived by nieces Marilyn and Al Lewis of Georgetown, and Margaret and Terry Neustaedter of Milton, Florida, as well as grandsons Gordon Harwell of Hudson, Ohio, Marion O'Neal and his wife Staci, and James O'Neal Jr., both of Fort Worth. Two great-grandsons, Thomas and Peter Harwell, also survive her, along with many individuals whose lives she touched during her long career at Parkland.
Eleanor’s legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of experiencing her warmth, wisdom, and care.
